The brief for this penthouse redesign in the heart of London was to achieve a balance between the modern architecture and a traditional aesthetic. Above all else, the design had to be functional.

The existing space had many interesting architectural features including lots of natural light and a double height ceiling. The design maintained the clean lines and integrated smart storage solutions to maximise the sense of space.

As with all Morley Mountain Homes projects, sustainability was paramount. In this instance, we applied the Shaker utilitarian approach of simplicity and honesty to our design. In a shift from mass-produced throwaway furniture to individual pieces that were designed and built to last, furniture and fittings were sourced from independent contemporary and vintage vendors. Comfort was achieved with a warm, muted colour scheme and natural textures throughout.
